When trouble climbs out of the shadows, will she survive or become just another gossip article?

“What brings you ladies out tonight?”
“You.” When Kate choked on air, Cami realized how that sounded. “I mean, the band. UTRM. I’m the General Manager at Magnolia Estate Resort and we’re having a Beach Bash next weekend. We were looking for a live band to perform and Kate, my event coordinator, suggested you. Um… UTRM, that is.” She couldn’t believe how flustered she was over this man, but what a beautiful man he was.
“Well, thank you, Kate,” Rome replied, finally glancing her way. She was a beauty in her own right, but something about Cami called to him on a totally different level. “Have you heard us before, or is this your first time?”
“I have,” Kate answered. “But she’s a virgin.”
“Kate?” Cami sputtered, her eyes widening as she looked at her.
“Sorry! Wrong um… I just meant-”
“I don’t see how that… not to say that… it wouldn’t be a problem if… Oh my God.” Cami clamped her hands over her mouth to stop the incoherent rambling that was spilling from her lips.
Rome couldn’t help but laugh at her reaction. It was so real and unfiltered, and if he wasn’t mistaken, out of character for her. The blush spreading over her cheeks highlighted the dusting of freckles hidden there, drawing his gaze. Every moment spent with her had him wanting to know her more. He wanted to break through the facade she portrayed to the world and know the woman underneath. It was a completely new experience for him and totally unexpected.
“She just meant this was your first time hearing us,” he explained through his laughter. “Where did your mind go, princess?”
Cami almost melted into a puddle then and there. Normally, when people called her a princess, it was meaning she was spoiled or brought up her upbringing, but coupled with his wink, it felt completely different. It was swoon worthy, and she was 99% positive he would catch her.
“I blame this,” Cami admitted looking at the empty glass before her.
“What’s your poison tonight?” Rome asked, loving that she didn’t deny her thoughts.
“Sex on the Beach,” Kate supplied, knowing Cami would never say the words.
“Oh, that’s good”, Rome cooed. “I always enjoy that. Will there be any of that at the Beach Bash?”
Her breath caught in her throat at his words. Was he flirting? Was his voice actually lower suddenly or was it just her? Were they still talking about drinks or? “The-the drink?” she squeaked. “There goes that mind again, princess,”
