Riley and Sebastien
Riley had never been normal, but her adoptive family, including twin brothers Lucas and Jacob, had never let her feel anything by loved. Together, the three of them run a lucrative business until Riley’s true heritage comes crashing down, casting them into a world of magic, myth, and fantastical creatures in a perilous fight for survival. Sebastien — a mysterious man who keeps popping up in the most unexpected places — is tall, dark, handsome, and the only man to ever turn Riley’s head. Riley must decide who to trust and who is trying to kill her, all while deciphering mixed signals and planning an uncertain future. Will Sebastien be the light through the coming storm? Or was Riley wrong about him all along?

“Do you like what you see?” Riley asked the older man.
“Your Grace?” he asked uncomfortably.
“You’re undressing me in so many ways in your mind that I’m starting to blush! Considering how long it took me to get into this dress, I’d rather not have it removed so easily,” she informed him.
His face went immediately red, and he sputtered what could only be an apology as he fled the room. The youngest of the three men couldn’t contain his amusement and doubled over with laughter.
“Is there something funny, good sir?” Riley questioned as she rounded on him. “Because I have never heard so many euphemisms for sex in my life! ‘Dancing the goat’s jig?’ How is even a thing?”
His face turned ghostly white as he stood frozen. The last man grabbed him by the shoulders and pulled him out of the dining hall. He wasn’t going to stick around for her to tell his king his thoughts of her like the others.
Sebastien couldn’t hold back the smirk that moved across his face. He had seen the changes in her the night before, but in the light of day, it was even more incredible. The confidence and Feistiness she exhibited were going to make this so much harder. He was acutely grateful she couldn’t read his mind so freely. His advisors thoughts were tame compared to his. Knowing he couldn’t have her was not stopping his mind from fantasizing.
“You just humiliated some of my most trusted advisors,” he chastised, returning to his chair as she sat.
“And you loved it,” Riley challenged. Sebastien realized he was still smirking and shoved an apple slice in his mouth to cover it. “Besides we both know I can’t control this craziness in my head. If I have to be around people, they could at least think quietly enough so I can ignore them.”
“Queen Canmore,” Sebastien began. He had to try to put some distance between them.
“Bastien. I know you know my name,” Riley reminded him.
“And that was a different place where I wasn’t a king and you a queen,” he insisted. “The rules are different here. You’ll do well to learn them.”
“I have bigger things to worry about than someone having a coronary over me not calling you Your Majesty,” Riley retorted. “I have been brought to a whole new world, befriended giant wolves, leveled fields full of people, and possibly lost one or both of my brothers. I don’t need rules. I need answers.”
