Mackenzie and Nicolai
Running from a past she can’t forget, her plan had been simple: blend in well enough to not be remembered and never stay long enough to let the grass grow. Lonely, but alive, it’s worked pretty well. Before Italy. When green eyes and a mischievous smile knocked Mackenzie off her feet. she began to remember when life wasn’t just about survival. Their easy banter and mutual attraction, however, wasn’t enough to override her need for self-preservation. As danger lurks around every corner, can he convince her to trust him before it’s Too Late?

“What the hell was that?” Elise questioned, bombarding her as she entered the room.
“That was Niko, and I’m not entirely sure,” Mackenzie admitted. She flopped down on the couch unceremoniously.
“He kissed you!” Elise exclaimed.
“He sure did,” Mackenzie agreed wistfully, her fingers touching her lips absentmindedly.
“And you pulled a gun on him!” Elise yelled.

“Where did you get a gun?” her boss asked, looking a the tightness of her clothing.

“You are going to act like nothing happened?” Elise called out to her.
“Yep.”
